After eight years, one of the most famous classics of the world drama, Henrik Ibsen, who has influenced theatre as radically as Shakespeare, is returning to the Liberec scene. The Lady from the Sea (1888) is a charming, mysterious, dissatisfied Elida Wangel. What will happen when past and a wild desire for unknown faraway places come into her life? How can Dr. Wangel save his marriage when his wife suffers from an unbearable desire for freedom? Taste from near a hot summer on the shore of the sea fjord in the northern Norway. The Lady of the Sea belongs to one of Ibsen's most powerful mature plays, and it combines a realistic, open view of reality with a subtle feeling for the dark depths of the human soul and impressive poetic images. In a masterfully intertwined drama, the author captured disturbing questions of human existence in the tangle of family relationships so sensitively and in such a penetrating way that his restless and discontented characters still resemble us and his plays do not cease to attract theater-makers all over the world.
