Life was never easy for musicians... Neither in America of the early 30ies in the time when drinking was still prohibited but swing was played and danced everywhere. A contrabass player Jerry and a saxophonist Joe, who unwillingly come into the way of gangsters must disappear, but to blessing in disguise – a girls' band is currently looking for a girl bass player and saxophone. That is why Jerry turnes to Daphne, Joe becomes Josephine, and they, as two lovely girls, leave for a tour to Miami. They soon become familiar with the star of the orchestra, a singer and banjulele player, charming Sugar Kane. She has bad luck with the guys once more - her passion for saxophonists has always been her curse, and she has therefore decided to catch a millionaire at Miami ... It is not necessary to introduce this famous parody of black and white gangster films “Some Like It Hot” from the year 1959. Directed by Billy Wilder, Tony Curtis played Joe alias Josephine, and Jack Lemon Jerry alias Daphne. Marilyn Monroe created the unforgettable role of Sugar - it was one of her biggest film achievements. A musical Sugar, which came into existence according to the movie thirteen years later, is directed by Oldřich Kříž at the scene of the Liberec theatre. Spectators can look forward to the stellar cast: the role of a charming, seductive and irresistible Sugar Kane will be played by Adéla Gondíková into whom Jan Kříž as Joe – Josephine will fall in love. Adéla´s brother Dalibor Gondík will play, sing and dance Joe's friend Jerry alias Daphne, whose heart relentlessly seeks a millionaire Sir Osgood Fielding. All this, of course, with live music performed by the F. X. Šalda Theatre Orchestra under the baton of Martin Doubravský.
